Beginner / Refresher Smocking Workshop February 18th

The Hill Country Smocking Arts Guild in Austin, TX will hold a Beginner/Refresher Smocking Workshop on Feb. 18, 2012. The workshop will be held at Grace Covenant Church, Austin from 9am - 2pm. Call Kim Davies with any inquiries 512/335-8650.

November 2011 Meeting

Hill Country Smocking Guild
November 21, 2011
The Hill Country Socking Guild met on November 21, 2011. Nine members and four visitors were present.
Meeting was called to order by President Melissa.
October minutes and treasurers reports were reviewed. Motion to accept minutes and treasurers reports as submitted made by Tony and seconded by Elissa. Motion was approved by members as presented.
Old Business:
Suzette Melander of Phoenix, Arizona won the HCSG basket at convention and sent a Thank You note.
December 1st dinner will be the date for the holiday meeting. Melissa will send EVITE through WEB with final details of place and time.
New Business:
Use of name tags was discussed. Ideas for name tag design were discussed. Proposed that ideas for tag be presented in January.
Local and National dues can be turned into Dot or just local dues to Dot and National dues can be done on-line. Local dues are $10 [Correction in minutes] and National dues are $35.
Committee for amending by-laws consists of Elissa, Mary, and Melissa.
Cheryl Davidson is interested in presenting a class. Cheryl owns and operates a business "A Frayed Knot" 3620 Monroe Road, Lakeland, Tennessee. Dot to request a list of one day classes.
Wee Care: need someone to take on project. Carrie Williams will speak to someone who knows hospital and needs. “Inkind” -- www.inkind.org.
Melissa will speak to her friend about project.
Visitors:
Ginny – Carries daughter = 5th year senior at UT has been sewing since age of 3.
Kate – is a teacher. She came with Melissa to learn how to make bows. Kate
is also the proud Mom of 8 month old triplets.
Kathy – from Viking Gallery at JoAnn’s. This store is the #1 Viking store in the
country. Kathy also Teaches classes at JoAnn’s.
Madi – Deanne’s granddaughter also wants to learn to make bows. She wore
Outfit made by Deanna with Halloween motif.
Smocking Class: February 18th at 9:30 am at Elissa’s will be on Basic Geometrics.
Door Prize won by visitor Kate.

Sharon – Fabric Boutique in Bossier City, La provided fabrics in Heather’s Quilt. Center panel of Tree of Life with Blue Love Birds then strip quilt surround. Pictures of trip to Pennsylvania showing fall color and SNOW!!!
Program:
Presented by Melissa on making four loop hair bows for girls.
