Officer Report:
Programs:
This is the first time, in memory that Hill Country Smocking Guild has received the SAGA Trunk Show.

Patty reported that the SAGA Trunk Show will be available for our March Meeting. Mary offered to
bring a hanging rack for the show. Mary and Toni offered to help return the trunk show after the
meeting night.

Patty emphasized that there were guidelines for displaying the SAGA Trunk Show. No food/drink. Use
gloves to handle the clothing. And more

Wee Care:
Virginia and Toni brought a bunch 'o blankets. The colors and the textures and pure bounty were
inspiring. Thank you Virginia and Toni.

Old Business:
1) No news about the ABIA about the display space.
2) Reminder of the Gail Doan Class in north Texas

New Business:
1) Should we try to find a location for a public sewing demonstration for Smocking Month (February)
2) Do we have a contact with the 'Quilt Con' for a table highlighting the HCSG?
3) Discussion about exploring a new meeting place. Possibly a spot a little north of present location. Members are encouraged to be on the look out/talk with prospective location. Think about a place: a) north of river  b) off a main corridor  c) available consistently  d) offers a lighted parking area [We are not displeased with present location, just starting discussion on alternatives]

Show and Share:
Patty brought at pink dress that she had smocked from one of Melissa A's precut dresses.

Melissa B completed another of Melissa A's precut dresses, this one was pale yellow.

Mary passed around pictures of the signs and letters in her yard announcing her 60th birthday.  She also brought 11 completed small Wee Care buntings, of different fabrics, and each with a different ribbon trim.

Patty announced that her goal is to complete a lot of the projects around the house.  She brought in 5 projects that had started as HCS meeting projects that had been completed - a sewing wallet, cupcake pin cushion, stacked smocking hearts ornament, a Christmas bell ornament, and a green and white folded star ornament.

Elissa and Lise both got to the Making of Gone With the Wind exhibit at U T, and agreed that the blue silk velvet dressing gown with the fox collar was the most spectacular costume.

Melissa A brought a dress that had long sleeves, and a button front with ruffles along the front band, and 3 pin tucks on either side of the band. She also recommended the Austin Fabric Coop as a great shop with lots of wools and fine cottons - the address is 6601 North Lamar.

It was reported that Toni was missing because her husband had angioplasty today.  Please keep them in your thoughts.

Lise brought 3 completed bereavement gowns.

Lise won the door prize - a pair of Gingher 5 inch shears.

Virginia presented the program this month. She arranged with Children's Corner to ship their trunk show of samples of clothing made from their patterns to be displayed and studied.

An upcoming sewing conference was announced.  Sassy Summer Sewing is hosting a conference in San Marcos July 29th through August 1. See http://sassysouthernsewing.com/ for more details.
