Wee Care
Kim
reported on delivering 1/3 of the Wee Care items collected at the SAGA
convention to Major Owens at the Darnell Army Hospital at Fort Hood in
Killeen.. Kim and Deanna sorted all the
items by size and repackaged them. In
total, Kim delivered 129 gowns, 37 blankets, 95 bonnets, and several
buntings. Major Owens was delighted to
receive the items and asked if she could share some with Brooke Army Hospital
in San Antonio. Darnell generally
averages 250 deliveries a month, with 7 babies that do not survive.
Melissa is now the coordinator for the at-large SAGA members
(those with no home chapter.)
Melissa and Elissa suggested rotating programs and have
everyone take turns, plus having a couple of item finishing and Wee Care
months. Lise suggested that May should
be a finishing month so that Wee Care items can be finished for convention,
since we do not meet in June and July.
Kim won the door prize – a miniature Ott light and a
magnetic storage box.
There was no formal program this month – everyone who
attended convention brought their kits and samples from their classes. Members attended workshops with Carol Ahles,
Jeannie Baumeister, Vaune Pierce, and others.
