February 2012 Meeting

HILL COUNTRY SMOCKING GUILD

FEBRUARY 20, 2012

Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM by President Melissa.

Minutes on blog site approved as presented. Mary will send blog information and January minutes to Sharon.

Treasurer’s Report approved as presented. Savings-$958.46; Checking-$729.26; Total - $1,687.72.

There were 8 members and 5 visitors were in attendance.

Old Business:

Wee Care Workshop had 11 in attendance. Excellent instructions with individual assistance as needed. Kim provided an excellent meal of “White Bean Chili” and awesome chocolate pies were provided by Mary.

New Business:

National Convention will be October 9 – 14^th in Atlanta, Georgia. Registration for this event will begin in March.

JoAnn’s Fabric will give a 10% discount towards your purchase when you present your SAGA card at checkout.

Door Prize – won by Kit Randall – Vintage lace and insertions, buttons and seam ripper.

Show & Share:

Mary – Completed smocking on Wee Care bonnet. She also displayed her completed lingerie bag.

Melissa – Showed picture of her daughter sporting a shirt with a much loved appliqued dinosaur.

Dot – made two adorable bubbles made from fat quarters. Pattern for the bubble was “Stitch N Post” design. She also made a lot of bows – filled a gallon sized zip lock bag with these bows.

Toni – Displayed a Queen sized quilt top she had pieced. She also showed a wall hanging she had pieced. Well done Toni.

Program:

Name Tags created by Deanna and Kim were distributed and members completed with ribbon hangers.

Work on Wee Care Bonnets continued.

For March meeting be sure to bring your pleater. Program will be on how to use your pleater with different types of fabric. Kits will include different types of fabric.
