April 2012 Meeting






Meeting called to order at 7:15 PM by President Melissa.

Minutes on blog site approved as presented.  One hard copy of minutes will be prepared for each month’s meeting.

Treasurer’s Report approved as presented.  Savings-$958.87; Checking-$720.04
Total - $1,678.91.

There were 8 members and 1 visitor in attendance.

OFFICER REPORT:

Old Business:
Dot will be contacting Cheryl Davidson about available classes and times.
Gale Doan has not responded to Deanna yet about class and schedule availability.

New Business:

Door Prize – won by Sharon...  Prize included ecru lace, Fiskar pink rotary cutter, buttons and a" Sewing at the Beach ’98" embroidery thread holder.

Show & Share:
Kathy shared her latest computer finds:  tiedyedivapatterns.com and youcanmakethis.com where she found a Ruffler Tutorial that had great illustrations.

Deanna’s guest, Geneva Wolf from N.C., showed a very sweet 6 month batiste bishop in pink.  Smocking plate is “Her Majesty”.

Deanna’s Navy Pique Sailor Dress was from Gail Doane’s class.  Really first class!

Dot shared Baylee’s Easter dress.  The dress was apple green and white Tattersall, smocked in pink with pearls and a tucked hem.  The pattern:  Sundress by “Creations by Michie”.  Smocking Plate:  Peanut Butter & Jelly Kids, “Susan Simone”.  Thinking of summer Dot showed “flip Flop dress” in pink pique, appliqued with ribbon flip flops.  Patter: Bonnie Blue, Holly & Hunter.

Melissa made “Very Hungry Caterpillar pillow case dresses”  Very cute!
Sharon- took great delight in showing Madison’s 1st communion dress.  She used Sew Beautiful magazine issues #114 & 141 versions of Pascale to make dress with lots of lace.  Smocking Plate: Peanut Butter & Jelly Kids, adaptation of “Lauren Marie”.  Mackenzie’s Easter dress was Simplicity #6234 made in a linen blend fabric, printed organza and beaded lace.

Mary Scrudder shared the best news of the evening – she is going to be a Grandma!!  Twice!!  Her twins are both expecting in October – two weeks apart.

Embroidered Scented Sachet – by Dottie Vester and presented by Deanna.

Please remember to bring completed sachet to May meeting.  Maybe we can get a group picture to send with a thank you to Dottie for supplying idea and instructions to our group.
